Early Saturday afternoon on February 28th, Wading River Fire Department Company 1 at Station Two took their old engine, Engine 13 out of service. In its place, Tanker 2 was put into service with a small "push in" ceremony with the company members.
Tanker 2 holds 3,000 gallons of water and has been set to function as both a tanker (supplying other trucks with water) and a first-due engine for fires and motor vehicle accidents.
Tanker 2 also replaces Wading River's old Tanker, which has been in service since 1986.
Only ten minutes after its official start in service, Wading River Tanker Two responded to its first call, a potential gas leak.
