Multi Agency Rescue

On Thursday, August 23, 2018 at approximately 1152 hrs the Department responded to the Long Island Sound for a reported Water Rescue.
Upon arrival, Department Members were advised of a male subject clinging to a overturned kayak that was, near Shoreham Power Plant, in rough surf conditions.

Wading River Fire Boat 6-3-18B along with Suffolk County Police Dept. Marine Boats, Rocky Point and Riverhead Fire Boats searched the waters. A Suffolk County Police Dept. Helicopter was assigned to the operation and within minutes located the victim 2 miles from shore. The helicopter guided the rescue boats to the victims location where he was successful rescued.

The victims were brought back to shore where they were treated and transported by Wading River Fire Dept. Ambulance to a local hospital.
All units were back in service at 1230 hrs.
