High Wind Warning & Flood Watch

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM TUESDAY TO 6 AM WEDNESDAY...

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...High Wind Warning Southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected…

…Flood Watch Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible…

* WHERE...All of Suffolk County…

* WHEN... High Wind Warning…From 6 PM Tuesday to 6 AM EST Wednesday….

…Flood Watch…From Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS... High Wind Warning…Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

…Flood Watch… Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low- lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- A strong storm system will impact the area Tuesday night into Wednesday with the likelihood of heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches with localized higher amounts are possible during this time. There will be potential for widespread flooding, including flash flooding with nearly saturated grounds going into Tuesday night, allowing for excessive runoff. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
