Red Flag Warning
RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SUFFOLK COUNTY
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Red Flag Warning for Long Island, which is in effect from 12pm today to 8 PM EDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA...Suffolk County.
* TIMING...Noon Today until 8PM this evening.
* WINDS...Northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 21 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...In the mid 50s.
* LIGHTNING...None.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected or occurring. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels will create a significantly
elevated fire growth potential.
