Sunday Morning Water Rescue

On Sunday July 18, 2021 at approximately 0653hrs, the Wading River Fire Department was activated for a reported water rescue off of Shoreham Beach. On arrival, members ascertained that there was one swimmer unaccounted for that was last seen by friends moving east. With the assistance of Suffolk County Police Aviation, the swimmer was located approximately half-mile off shore and was brought aboard Boat 6-3-18B. The victim was brought to the shore and treated and transported by ambulance to a local hospital. All units were back in service at 0842hrs.
