WRFD STUFF-A-BUS - 2018 Food Drive Begins!

With Thanksgiving arriving early this year, the Wading River Fire Department has ramped up its Christmas Holiday “Stuff-A-Bus” food drive campaign. Over the years, many Wading River residents participated in the annual event - to great success. Last year, the bus was filled with food to its roof. This year, the food drive is truly needed. Department President Mike Hammer said, “One of the seven local churches we deliver to has told us that their supplies are completely gone and the six other food pantries are all very low.” Once again, a bus has been graciously donated from the First Student bus company and it sits in the parking lot at the Headquarters of the Fire Department on North Country Road. The non-perishable foods and canned goods that will be collected during the Holidays outside of the King Kullen supermarket, will be delivering to the seven area churches and food banks on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Residents can, of course, place donations into the school bus, parked at the fire house. Ex-Captain, Thomas Whelan, will be running the food drive this year, with help from the volunteer firefighters, EMS rescue personnel and the local Boy Scout Troop 94. He thanks all residents for their patience and kind words at the entrance to King Kullen. Canned goods will be collected until the first weekend in January.
