On Thursday February 9, 2017 Wading River was hit with a severe winter storm.

Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management issued a Blizzard Warning that was in effect

from 3 AM to 6 PM EST Thursday and predicted snow accumulations from 10 to 14 inches or

higher. Wading River Fire Department responded by Staffing Stand-by Crews to cover this

critical time. Chief McQueeney, Chief of the Department, at 6 PM, reported that there was

a total of 7 alarms answered during the Stand-by. 1 Automatic Alarm, 2 Chiefs Investigation,

3 Ambulance calls with transports to Peconic Bay, Mather and Stonybrook Hospitals.

Lastly 1 miscellaneous alarm for a Swan rescue down at the Duck Ponds. Proving, once again,

the dedication and commitment of the men and women of The Wading River Fire Department.
